Introducing Garage Door Science

If you’ve ever stood in your garage wondering why the door makes that noise — or whether that noise is trying to tell you something expensive — we built something for you.
Garage Door Science is a new, independent educational site for homeowners. Nine interactive science labs, a virtual technician (AI) you can describe a problem to in plain English, and zero form-fill purgatory. It’s free. It’s neutral. There are no affiliate links tucked into the copy.
What’s on it

- Nine interactive labs. Real physics, not marketing copy. The science of garage door springs, energy efficiency modeling, a door-ROI calculator, and more. Each one runs in your browser — no sign-up.
- A virtual technician. Describe the symptom (“my door reverses halfway down,” “spring snapped,” “it’s loud”) and the AI walks through the diagnosis. When the answer edges into DIY-dangerous territory (springs, cables), it says so.
- Honest AI framing. It tells you up front it’s a virtual technician, not a human. It’s trained on the labs — if you ask something outside that scope, it says so instead of making stuff up.
Who built it

Seth Shoultes — the same person who maintains this site — built it in partnership with A Plus Garage Doors and Utah Garage Doors. When a homeowner on Garage Door Science needs a real technician, the site routes them to a local pro we trust.
